Rosalia Chladek (1905 - 1995)
Dancer - Choreographer - Teacher
 | Rosalia Chladek is considered one of the leading pioneers of Free Dance in the twentieth century (Modern Expressionist Dance).
As a solo dancer she received widespread acclaim because of her unique combination of a spectacular technique, her ability for intense expression and her outstanding musicality.
She displayed her creative talent as a choreographer in over 70 solo-dance creations, also in innumerable choreographies for Theatre, Opera, Film and Television.
In her earliest days as a dancer she began researching the elements of cause and effect in movement which she developed into the Rosalia Chladek®-System, her internationally recognised dance technique.

Chladek worked in a directing capacity in several institutions:
- Basle Conservatoire
- Hellerau-Laxenburg School
- Vienna Conservatoire
- Vienna Hochschule for Music and
Dramatic Art
After her official retirement from the Hochschule she was a much sought-after guest teacher at home and abroad until she was 90 years old, and directed the Part-Time Study courses in Strasbourg until 1995and later in Vienna.
